Call for prep team members: Volunteering in Conflict Areas

Following the strategic plan of the movement (2004-2009), SCI organizes a seminar, related to SCI’s working in conflict areas. The main aim of the seminar is trying to develop a strategy or guidelines how SCI as peace-organization can act in areas where direct violent conflicts (can) appear or already have taken place.
We received a grant from the European Youth Foundation (EYF) for this seminar.

Some key-questions of the seminar:
  1. What are (pre-, post-) conflict areas where SCI should work in?
  2. What can SCI do and what can SCI better leave to other organizations?
  3. How (in what way) should SCI work in conflict areas to build peace in an effective way?
  4. How should SCI prepare volunteers to work in conflict areas?
The exact aims and objectives of the seminar will be defined by the prepteam at first meeting in November.

At the moment we are looking for 3 candidates to join the prepteam. They will work together with a representative of the IS, working on peace issues and the coordinator of SCI responsible for working in conflict areas.

WHO?
We are looking for SCI-activists with experience or affinity in the field of working in conflict area, and willing to work on the topic of the seminar, and preferably also available for SCI after the seminar.
