Call for participants: Strategic dimensions of volunteering

Sustainable, intercultural and creative impact of volunteers' organizations on society

The seminar is hosted by VCV- Serbia and will take place in Mali Idjos, Serbia, from May 21 to May 28 2009.

The strategic seminar / training course "Strategic dimensions of volunteering – sustainable, intercultural and creative impact of volunteers' organizations on society" is organised as one of the steps in strategic planning of SCI for the 2010-2013 strategic plan. With it we expect the following results:

-          Set up good basis for better strategic thinking and planning in SCI

-          More input on sub-strategies, but especially to the PR and communication one and general Human resources one, meaning the part dealing with the (international) volunteers and staff

-          Exchanged experiences and positive practices on strategic planning and leadership, grassroots vs. international level of activities and strategies

-          Developing the general strategies/ways how to achieve objectives into more concrete suggested possible actions, activities, programmes and/or projects

-          Getting concrete suggestions for future higher/better implementation of the next plan (in comparison to this one) and feeling of ownership of the future SP within the overall SCI

-          To prepare participants for more efficient strategic leadership on level of branches

-          Developed the monitoring and evaluation concept of the strategic plan’s success

In order to achieve all these expected outcomes, the seminar will have also educational, planning and exchange parts. The training course will follow the non-formal education approach. The course programme and contents are organised to allow for the maximum participation of the group using active and participatory methods.

The desired profile of the participants for this event is that they already are involved (or are to be involved in the future) in:

-          Branches’ boards and/or staff / decision making bodies

-          Branches’ strategic planning and/or strategic leadership

-          Coordination and implementation of different projects in cooperation with other SCI branches, recognized groups, contacts and Working groups.

The event is supported by the Youth in Action Programme of the European Commission. 70% of travel costs will be reimbursed. Please use the most economical and practical means of transport.
