The World March for Peace in Sydney- 4th October 2009 !
International Volunteers for Peace, the Australian Group of SCI are spreading the word about the activities they are involved with in Sydney for the World Peace March!
On October 4th the people of Sydney will join a multitude of other voices around the globe by forming the word PEACE on BondiBeach. Those who believe that it’s time now to speak out in favour of peace and disarmament, to show their opposition to war and all forms of violence, will have a chance to demand their right to live in peace and liberty and have our children’s future safe.
In Australia the World March has received multiple endorsements from a number of distinguished individuals, including Lord Mayor of Sydney Clover Moore, prominent anti-nuclear advocate Dr. Helen Caldicott, Senator Bob Brown (Greens), Senator Doug Cameron (Labour), journalist and author Jeff McMullen, musician John Butler, indigenous singer and author Richard J Frankland, human rights and refugee advocate Julian Burnside and the instigator of political pop, leading music journalist, author, broadcaster, and International Peace envoy of John and Yoko Lennon’s ‘War is Over if You Want It’ Peace campaign, Ritchie Yorke.
The nuclear threat hasn’t gone away and the danger of even more countries joining the nuclear race will grow if world citizens remain silent.
To have your voice heard,
join and make PEACE at BondiBeach
on 4 October!
