What is PVP?

Pacifist Voluntary Projects are workcamps or longer term voluntary projects with pro-active peace building or peace education as a major element. Whilst all SCI camps are peace building in some way (an international group living and working together, resolving conflicts, and working to contribute to another society), PVP's have a larger and more obvious peace building element. To increase the number of PVP’s is part of the SCI Strategic Plan.

Visit the international webpage of SCI for more details on our workcamps.

On these pages you can find resources relating PVP’s including documents from past camps as well as the PVP criteria and guidelines.

You may discover that some of your camps are already PVP's. It is also easy to convert your workcamp into a PVP, just add an extensive peace education study part. This site is the best place to get ideas, and get started!

Here you can download the PVP brochure made at the 2006 PVP - Striving towards Quality in Peace Education seminar.
