SCI Strategic Plan

Setting peace as the ultimate goal of an organisation can often seem too huge and difficult to reach. So, SCI focuses on one method to work towards this goal - Intercultural Exchange. However, this is still such a broad area, and it is necessary for us to prioritise our actions. In order to work effectively we need guidelines to help us achieve our goals. Thus the Strategic Plan of SCI was developed.

Our Goals 2004 - 2009

4 main Objectives for the years 2004 - 2009 were adopted by the 2003 International Committee Meeting in Seoul. The third objective consists in: Improving the Quality and Level of Peace Education within SCI.

All our workcamps are a form of peace education but over the coming years we hope to really make them learning experiences for participants. Workcamps will have more planned education sessions where volunteers will be made aware of SCI as a broad Peace Movement. They will be encouraged to discuss Peace; what it is, how it can be achieved, what are the obstacles etc. There will be a Peace Education Network who will facilitate the sharing of these ideas and associated resources.

Peace Education Policy

The SCI Peace Education Network has also developed a Peace Education Policy paper. As with all policy papers this sets out clear guidelines for how to proceed in this area, and what our objectives are. You can download the full policy paper here.
